is a brand new blog I'm creating to welcome those who, regardless of their gender, ethnicity, political or philosophical identity, or any other accident of choice or birth, are somehow drawn to the "theos," the Supreme One from whom all being flows, just as Heliotropic flowers are by their nature drawn to follow the sun as it appears to cross the daytime sky.
I am a 72 year old "white" man, a Cajun person from Louisiana originally. I write and blog and sing and post music on YouTube (see DrHanzonScience channel) and help my dear and closest person on this earth, MS, with her acclimatization and acculturation and adventures in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, which have been on-going since we both arrived to study environmental science and ethics at Harvard in January 2008.
Thursday, July 09, 2009, I found myself on the bus and subway chatting with a medical doctor, MD, psychiatry, from Belmont to central Boston. I instigated the chat, seeing that he was a bit agitated and sensing that he wanted to share something. His stethoscope was concealed beneath his black suit jacket, so I did not know he was a physician, but as soon as we began chatting, he said he had just saved someone's life and was headed home from "a doctor's office." I asked whether he had attended medical school, and we went on from there through a whole series of shared confidences about our backgrounds. At some point about 15 minutes into the conversation, I knew I was talking to a Theotrope.
I mentioned this to my counterpart, and he understood my image - I recalled for him vast rolling hills covered with bright yellow sunflowers, every one turning in unison ever so slightly as they all followed the path of the sun. Theotropic people, I went on to say, are of every kind and variety, from every culture I've encountered on Earth, and they all instinctively follow "God," by whatever name you dare to call The Source of Being, and they somehow sense that certain others share that same tendency.
I'vemake this little website for your benefit, knowing that you may well be "Theotropic" without having a handy word to use to describe that sort of thing.
I welcome your comments, and hope Joy and Good Fortune embrace you every days of the rest of your life on Earth, and well beyond that into the Mystery that may lie before us after we breathe our last.
